Where did "Sleep tight!" come from? That doesn't sound comfortable at all.. amirite?

I agree, it sounds extremely uncomfortable! But I think it was originally said a long time ago when beds were sort of held up by ropes, and if the ropes weren't tight, your bed would sag and you would get bedbugs.

Actually, I think it's because babies like to be wrapped up tightly. Thee feel secure and safe. It would sort of go hand-in-hand with 'sleeping like a baby.'

Back in the day, beds were not made as they are now. They were made with hay, or similar things. The hay was then wrapped "tightly" with rope or string so the mattress would stay firm. Thus the term sleep tight.
