+301 When you were first learning how to type without looking you were like "damn this is impossible" but now you type faster than the teacher who taught you. amirite?

The teacher who tried to teach me didn't help, I use my own ways of typing and actually go just as fast as the teacher

Theoretically, as generations pass, kids could eventually write Harry Potter in five seconds, by this logic.

Do they even still have typing classes in school? I learned in middle school when computers were just becoming a common household item. Now kids are starting to use computers before they're even in school.

I learned how to type, mainly, through online RPing forums. By the time my first 'official' course in highschool rolled around, I had mastered my own strange way of typing and can type much faster than the highest rank in the course wants me to be at wary.

Your own strange way of typing? You mean not using the home keys? Or you use different fingers to press other keys? Because I've seen someone type and press space bar using his index fingers instead of thumbs o.O

My hands don't really go where they're supposed to,but yet, somehow they end up where they're supposed to. Like... my fingers tend to rest, when I stop typing, sprawled out along the top row of letters. My mom said it's really weird to watch me write.

I type using only my index fingers, and my thumbs for the space bar but i type really really fast. No one ever taught me to type

I type using my middle fingers and my pointer finger on my right hand. That's it. And I can type faster than my mother, who learned how to type in school and uses the home keys.

Teachers for typing? What are we all, 2000's kids?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I learned in 3rd grade and ended up typing at 50 wpm at the end of the year. My brother is 15 and still pokes with one finger. He has motor skill issues, though.

The only thing I knew about typing when I taught myself is that you were supposed to put your fingers on the home row. Then I put a picture of a keyboard on the wall behind my computer and typed using whichever finger was closest to the letter. Still I use the caps lock key to make capitals and not the shift.
