+349 Marilyn Monroe would be considered overweight by today's standards, but she was damn sexy, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Marilyn Monroe weighed 117-118 pounds (it's varied between these two depending on what website you go to) and she was 5'5. This gives her a BMI of 19.5, definitely not overweight. There is one website that says she was 140 pounds, but even then she would only have a BMI of 23.3, and that is still not overweight.

I'm 117 and 5'5. I better watch my step before me and my overweight ass bust through the floor into the basement ... lolwut

Going by that, there's not way she should be considered overweight.

I'm, 5'7 and 140 pounds. According to the BMI, I am two pounds overweight.

Actually I think she'd be considered normal weight by today's standards. In the 60's she was size 14, but in today's society, that would translate to a size 6.

115 lbs is overweight? WTF are you?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

She'd be considered overweight to the fashion world, but to regular people she's normal.

That's what breaks my heart, nowadays Beautiful is supposed to be skinny. Whatever happened to SIZE DOESN'T MATTER? I'm 5'7 and 130lbs. Im not overweight because I'm a soccer player. Muscle weighs more than fat, so why is it so important to be under 120 if your a girl?! Fuck society.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

muscle doesn't actually weigh more than fat. 1 lb. of muscle = 1 lb. of fat

by Anonymous 13 years ago

1 lb of anything = 1 lb of anything else. It's about the volume, not the weight. 1 cm^3 (I know it sounds weird) of muscle would weigh more than 1 cm^3 of fat.

She may of had lovely curves that today would be seen as big for a fashion hag but she was still a butterface who took some good photos. If you look at statistics for such things most people find a little underweight to curvy overweight attractive, pushing big fatties and models out of the generally seen as pretty part.

She's a butterface? Butterface translates to everything's good, but-her-face. And her face was gorgeous.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Personally and a lot of people agree her face outside of photoshoots was far from conventional or modern pretty. Her body great. Her face, a little haggard.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh my, haggard is a strong word, and it shouldn't even apply. I mean, have you even seen Some Like It Hot?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

She would not have been considered overweight by today's standards.
