I've seen some (really queeny) gay guys call each other "girlfriend" but usually in a joking/satirical way. Never met a gay man who prefered to be addressed as a female with female pronouns.
lol then you're not in a situation to have an opinion on it?
That's like a guy saying "periods aren't that bad". He's never encountered his body with one, therefore can't make an opinion on it
Pardon? Is that relevant?
Could you please elaborate? Do you often meet gay men who ask you to refer to them as females?
The relevancy (spelling?) is just that it's an example of my point I was trying to get across.
And yes I have. If you haven't, then how can you have a valid opinion on it? That was the point of the period example.
Like, I'm gay myself, and I sometimes go to gay bars, pubs, etc., and never seen it, which is why I reckon my opinion could be valid. And, as pikabeau said, are you talking about cisgendered gay men? Because a trans woman is not a cis man, regardless of sexuality.
Oh no, I meant gay men. Which is why pikabeau seems like a dumass to me when he's randomly bringing up trans in the comments...
Ah, problem identified. I guess people some people do think that trans girls are just really gay men, that's where the misunderstanding may have come from.
Meh, I dunno. My experience is that only the bitchy queeny gay guys do that, and I tend to avoid them. Maybe your experiences are very different from mine, and gay people in your area do it more.
yea like the uptight ones. They aren't even the cool gay ones! lol
I am a lesbian, but you called me a he. So you can call people with a vagina he, but you can't call people with a penis a she?
Also, this post makes you look like a DA because gay men are not seriously addressed as women, if they are they're more than just gay.
If a man wants to be addressed as a female they are not gay, they are transgendered. There is a HUGE different. A gay man is man who likes other men. He knows he is a man and is fine with that. A trangender man is a man, but in body only. They have the mind of a woman and feel like they were given the wrong body. They are the ones who would want to be addressed as female because they are female on the inside.
I saw this post as reffering to when some queeny guys go "You go girlfriend" and "What /her/ problem" when reffering to each other.
But you are correct, a trans woman is not a gay man, and insisting on calling a trans person the wrong gender and pronouns is just plain fucking disrespectful.
yea you're right but...I didn't mean trans. I legitimatly said "gay men". If they have a penis, then the point of the post still stands.
while you're at it, would you like to comment about the price of tea in china?
If they are a gay man people only use feminine pronouns to address them as a joke. And trans people can have a penis, that doesn't make them a man. Gender is in the mind too.
No I would not.
you obviously didnt get the point of the price of tea in china joke, as I'm trying to say that trans people have nothing to do with my post. Stop bringing them up.
I only addressed gay men. That's it. I don't care if it's as a joke, that's the point of my post. It's improper, and I've seen some gay men offended by me calling them a "he" even though they are completely not trans.
Your post makes it seem like all gay men secretly want to be women. This is obviously not true. If this post was a joke, you failed. Jokes are supposed to be funny. Try handed next time. kthxbye.
ugh I'm done dealing with dum bitches, even over the internet...
Oh thank god... I was starting to get tired of people who think gay men are all queens.
where did i say i thought that?
It was implied in the post. I've never met a gay man who seriously wanted to be called a girl.
quote the statement in the post that sounds like i implied that "gay men are ALL queens"
"I get that all your gay and close friends call you "girl" and "girlfriend""
All my gay friends do not call each other girl or girlfriend. They call each other by their names.
I'm pretty sure that specifies only the guys that I was talking about. hence why I used the word "your" and "you", and not "gay people's" and "them" respectively.
But you did say all your gay friends. All is a big word.
Exactly. Only to the EXACT group I was talking about (which I proved that it was exact a few posts up) can I use the word "all", because all of those guys' friends call them likewise.
But you never specified which group. All you said was that gay men should not be addressed as females and then went on to say that ALL of their friends call them "girl" and "girlfriend."
Ok under that logic, I could make a post like:
"I hate labradors. They all shed"
And you comment "Not all dogs are hairless".
When I said "all", I means ALL of the people that are ONLY REFFERED TO in my post. I did NOT refer to all gay guys. I'm pretty sure the first sentence of the post mentions only gays addressed as females.
You said you don't think gay men should be called females. Your little dog comparison would fit if your post said, "I don't like the gay guys who call each other feminine pronouns," but that's not what you said. You just made a blanket statement.
I know a guy who is sort-of addressed by female pronouns, but I usually don't bother because I can't remember whether he is or not 90% of the time. But he's a gay man who is sometimes referred to as female.
So, tell me, where is the harm in this? It's just how he wants to identify with himself. Why should people stop him?
Uhm if he wants to be addressed as a she there should be no problem.
