+1,001 I hate people who falsely claim they have OCD. "Omg I hate odd numbers! I'm so OCD (giggles)" ...No you're not, you're just stupid. Amirite?

I had a conversation with my mother about this today. Inb4 “cool story bro.”

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I liked that story bro :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

N@1118363 (LaurenZie): No. Inb4 is not a word.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Whoa. Really? Thank you SO MUCH for telling me. I honestly thought it was a real word. I’m glad someone was kind enough to inform me!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Is painting your nails three times a day and freaking when something goes wrong with them considered OCD, or am I just vain?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'd go with the latter.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not at all. There's a difference between being Anal and OCD. I'm not being a bitch or anything i'm just telling you the truth. Trust me, i'm a pharmacy student and i've done a project on the disease & you don't have it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's good and bad. I don't wanna be anal though :(

by Anonymous 13 years ago

lots of people are Anal, don't worry about it! I am too, it just means your very particular. It just bugs me how casually people use the term OCD. If half the people who talk about it loosely knew what it's really like, they wouldn't joke about it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Okay :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Why not anal? Your mum loves it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Snap!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I have OCD and it annoys me when people say that too.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Would you say you're.... OCD about it?? I'm kidding. OCD is a hard thing to live with.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Lmaoo. And yeah.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I have OCD too, but it isn't really noticable or bad. It's really more like a characteristic

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's not a characteristic. It's DISEASE. If you haven't been diagnosed then don't tell people you have it! It's people like you who make others believe it's not a big deal. Then people who really do have it aren't taken seriously, when they actually have a problem.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I have been diagnosed, but I also have Asperger's Syndrome and I was told after that it was more like a characteristic of Asperger's.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yea, its true. I caught the disease from my sister 3 months ago :(

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You have to admit, nobody really wants to go around saying, "I'm so anal!"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I hate odd numbers, too. Lol.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well fuck you too :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hahaha

by Anonymous 13 years ago

;)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That was the funniest thing I read all day.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Tell me about it. It just minimizes how devastating OCD really is for someone who actually has it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Exactly, and when they tell people nobody takes it seriously because it's become so much of a "joke."

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I have OCD, and before I started my medication it was so bad I'd spend entire days just laying in bed because the second I stood up I'd have to start counting my steps. I'd have to give doctors notes to all my teachers so they wouldn't seat me by the door or windows (I still can't stand that). I actually failed a state-wide exam because I had to keep re-writing my words on the essay. And people started bullying me because of how I had to repeat what other people said. I even fell into depression for awhile. Oh yes, HILARIOUS

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I was never diagnosed with OCD but when I was like 6 or 7 I used to count the words I said in each sentence, and if I didn't come up with an even number of words I had to add a word to the sentence. As a six year old my range of vocabulary wasn't too broad so I would end up adding words that made no sense, it was actually ruining my grades. I used to cry at night to my mom because I couldn't stop it. But somehow I got over it, no idea how but I have a lot of sympathy for people who have to deal with that kind of frustration.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, and I remember my parents had no sympathy. Every time I lost count of my steps I would start twitching trying to keep myself from screaming and whenever my mom saw she would ground me. Really mom, would you prefer I just start screaming in the middle of the street? It got a little better once I was finally diagnosed, but after awhile they just got sick of it. Another thing I hate (and this goes for any mental illness): When people think of a physical illness, they feel bad for the person suffering. When people think of a mental illness, they feel about for the people around them who have to deal with them. Or they think the person just wants "attention"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

A couple of years ago i would always spell words out in my head whenever i heard people say them. and if i trip over my right foot i always have to trip over my left foot too. i dont think its OCD, though. just weird habits.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's odd. I did something similar to that. I'd go back and mouth everything I said and count the words. They didn't have to be even, but people were still a little weirded out when they were trying to talk to me and I was mouthing things I had just said. But I grew out of it by the time I hit middle school.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I guess we were the lucky ones! I think it had something to do with me joining synchronized swimming, so we had to count from 1 to 8 over and over again for a whole 4 minute routine. I think maybe it got me comfortable with the idea of ending at a number. Idk, my weird habit ended around the same time I started swimming so makes sense to me!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I still have it pretty bad :/ But when i was younger it was terrible. If i touched something i would touch it twice with my other hand and then touch it again with my first hand. I also used to say a special word 10 times every couple of minutes. And whenever i read a page of something, i would say the name of the book and the authors name out loud :/ Also it got so bad that i would say whatever came to mind or i was convinced i'd go to hell.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I do that too sort of. The second part, if I don't do something the right way something bad will happen to me. I get scared D:

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I hate prime numbers.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I have OCD about things being equal. If I have 10 notecards, and one of them is smaller than the other ones, I throw a panic attack. The doctor diagnosed it, but my parents keep saying that its just a stupid "habit" so I can't get medicine.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I hate the whole blonde thing too. Like, "I cant help it Im a blonde!". shut up. youre stupid.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Right. They have no idea what it's like to actually have it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't like self-diagnosing myself so usually will say that I have OCD-like tendencies. I understand that is no better, but after strenuous hours of researching the symptoms and such, I'm pretty sure I have OCD. It really affects my life and my parents don't have the money to go to a psychologist and believe I can get rid of it. :/ It's hard than it sounds.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Most people actually have obsessive-compulsive personality disorder, which is just a drive to have things be orderly, not a disorder. (Thank you 5 minutes on Wikipedia.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

lol thanks for that informative tidbit.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Do you know what happens to people who falsely claim they have OCD? They DIE.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, everyone dies. At some point

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I plan on living forever, it's going well so far.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Many comments this post has.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Indeed.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah I don't know why haha, it's not like it's a controversial post.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I was thinking about that while I was in the shower today O_O

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm actually diagnosed with OCD and I do hate odd numbers.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I hate it when people say "I have the randomest mood swings! Im sooooo bipolar!" No you aren't, you're just a teenager with out of control hormones. I have been diagnosed with bipolar and it's much worse then your mood shifts. For some reason, people think it's cool to have a mental disorder.
