+406 You're able to read this right now, in your air conditioned room, full and hydrated. Does not getting those new pair of shoes really matter, when you already have so much, compared to others that don't even have water? amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How about y'all stop your idiotic banter of cuss words back-and-forth, and understand that I wasn't talking about everyone. Or that maybe, I just wanted you to think about it, not obsess!!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

how about using the reply button if you REALLY wanted them to see that

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm actually hungry

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I wonder if the people voting yea you are realize that, based on the wording of the post, that they're saying their shoes do matter.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The a/c isn't on, and I'm mad thirsty atm.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

taraleigh1, you were able to write this post now weren't you? Well fed and hydrated in your air conditioned room. Maybe you should think twice before being a hypocrite and making others feel guilty for being fortunate.

you can't change is you're fortunate or not. the only thing we can do to help is donate money, or help other people personally, and in this economy, many people may not have the money to do so..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Anonymous#3): one could argumentably give up their A/C or whatever so that they could have the money to give other people money for basic essentials.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

A. Providing for entire nations of impoverished people is a pretty tall order compared to some new shoes. B. I hope you're not talking about Japan, a lack of water is the least of their worries. *Rimshot*

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Just because there are people in situations worse than mine, it doesn't mean that I should not get what I want because of that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Why?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Op is just saying be grateful for what you have. I think op just worded it badly? Because that's the message that I got and it's not a bad message.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If that was the intended message, I have no issues with it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm actually kind of hungry. I haven't eaten for at least 2 hours.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hey, I'm buying nike. That's supporting the workers in india their 17 cents a week!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Funniest thing is, once they shut down tonnes of sweat factories, and tonnes of people died because you really are supporting them on 17 cents a week. Amnesty International Fail...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

mmhmm. If they buy a thing of aspirin they have to go w/o food for a week. Just watched a document on it. At least they make nice shoes I can't afford.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

People shouldn't be made to feel guilty when comfortability and security is all they've ever known. To a person who has grown up privileged and never experienced anything bad, like famine or drought, things like new shoes may matter after all, because they don't know any different. I mean, it sucks that people are in those situations, like famine or drough, and we should do everything we can to help, but those who can't, or don't know how to, shouldn't have to feel bad for living comfortably.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This post isn't about those people feeling bad, it's about them feeling grateful for what they have. Like once your well runs dry, you realize you didn't appreciate your water. It's not saying help those people, it's saying appreciate what you have.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

In general, thank you for understanding what I was trying to get at. I'm not saying to feel guilty, saying to think over. People on here who are attacking saying that they're privileged but won't do anything about it, all they do is brag; though, if they're underprivileged, all they do is complain how they have it worse and don't care about other people. There is always someone that is having a worse time than you - though yeah, I'm sorry if your life is bad, yourself. Just we take things for granted like leaving lights on when we aren't home, wasting clean water, money for food or clothes or where we'll live. I just wish people would think, instead of bitch..

I am at my grandma's to use her computer and water and air conditioner. At my house, my air conditioner is old and won't turn on currently, m hot water heater is broken, and I don't have a computer, let alone internet. My only pair of shoes, aside my walmart bought tennis shoes (that my grandma bought me) are black dress shoes and you can stick your hand through the bottom cause the sole is torn into a flap. So don't try to make feel like shit cause I can't help out kids in Africa.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I for one feel very blessed, and sometimes we get WAY too caught up in the material things, and we just need to remember the blessing of a healthy privileged life.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah I do live a privileged life, you want me to apologize or something?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I am starving, reading this in a cramped humid hut in 3rd world Ethiopia. I am only reading this because some asshole started a "Laptop Donation for Africa" charity instead of actually giving us necessities. And as for the shoes? I lost my feet after lions ate them for dinner.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well if I get TOMS shoes another child in a developing country would get a pair too :D
