Does a middle name count?
by Anonymous13 years ago
I suppose. I have my mom's maiden name as my middle name, and anyone could have that or their mom's first name as their middle name, but it would be more uncommon to see a mother and daughter with the same first name.

It does happen, that's very true, it's just not as common I guess.

My cousin's name is Nicole and she named her son Nicholas after herself. We all think it's strange and maybe a bit conceited since she's a single mother and picked it out herself.

It happens a lot in older generations of Afrikaans families, the daughters get the grandmothers' names. But I think the reason it doesn't happen a lot is because a women's surname changes, so it will never really be a family name.

My middle name is my mom's middle name, and it's part of my grandma's first name too.
