+324 Schools need to expand their internet safety talks to include more than just scare tactics about pedophiles in chat rooms. They should also teach kids about not responding to trolls, not clicking a link unless you can verify it's not scary porn, ways to keep your computer from getting viruses, stuff like that. They're going to go to chat rooms anyway, at least teach them how to be safe, amirite?

Agree, especially with the trolls one - I was reading a Cracked article that said that we grew up with sitcoms thinking that every bully and idiot needs to be put in their place, but most of the time you gotta accept that they aren't going to relent. Also, about how much information you share, particularly stuff that can and will be saved. If you look at some of the articles about people on Encyclopaedia Dramatica, there's screenshots and shit there saved of all their online activities.

Teacher: "Now kids, can you tell me what a troll is?" Student: "A dumbass who makes idiotic posts in message boards newsgroups for the sole purpose of pissing people off, often lacking in intelligence." Teacher: "Good job Kimmy!"

He's wrong though. A troll is a green creature who lives under a bridge or in the woods, there is also a white/grey variant that lives in the mountains.

"Scary" porn? But yeah, I agree. NEVER EVER EVER click on the first link you see when googling "first time to the gyno". It will NOT be an informational health website providing comforting facts about what to expect. And you WILL get a virus.
