+198 For all we know, life could be unique to earth. Other planets probably have or had something different that we don't recognize, because it hasn't been discovered on our own planet, amirite?

Latest estimate is 2 billion Earth like planets in our galaxy alone. That number might be highly conservative (due to the fact that they only take into account planets orbiting stars similar to our own). Estimates of the number of galaxies extend upwards to half a trillion. I'm pretty sure there's enough scope in there for anything different plus A LOT of other life in the universe.
