+240 They should stop putting headlines like "ALIEN LIFE FOUND ON OTHER PLANETS". You just get really excited then find out that it's just some fucking bacteria, amirite?

actually, bacteria are pretty exciting and interesting, IMO

They have never found bacteria on another planet, if they did that would be groundbreaking and a huge leap in finding habitable planets and in science. This post makes me sad for human's future. Bravo.

Have you not heard of the discoveries of Gliese 581 d or HD 85512 b? or even Keplber-22b? These are the three major planets discovered recently to be possible super earths. They orbit the habitable zones of the galaxy therefore making it possible for them to support life. I find these discoveries very interesting and give me hope for the future. Maybe you'd like to search them on google, if you haven't heard of them, they'd be very interesting.

The fact remains that they haven't found any actual bacteria on any planets other than earth, as the OP suggests. Of course I've read about planets that are thought to be habitable, however the fact that people think bacteria on foreign planets isn't "exciting" is rather sad.

Didn't a telescope that was launched far out find a small planet in a habitable zone just recently?

The Kepler Spacecraft was launched equipped with a photometer that is surveying a section of the Galaxy. It has returned with many discovered planets, some of which may be earth like or habitable. It's quite exciting even though we are far off of utilizing such planets.

That's awesome.
