Judging by the comments, this phenomenon occurs in very many places, so that if I were to find myself in a snowstorm in April, I still would be very confused as to where I was.
It's actually pretty awesome; the thundersnow happens because the thunderstorms pass through the cold front and go from rain to snow, because of temperature, but the thunder and lighting still remains.
Please, that happens down here in Chicago.
It's happening right now. Well, I'm not sure about RIGHT now, but I know Michigan and Wisconsin are getting tons of snow. I'm a weather freak :p

Um u knOw your in Wisconsin when one day it's sunny and warm and snow-free and the next you hav 2.5 inches of snow on the ground!
2.5 inches? Pffft, last week I woke up after 5 days of 15 C weather to 3 feet of snow infront of my door >.>

It's not snowing in my part of Iowa but they're predicting it will within the next couple days.

In Wisconsin we've had 80 degree weather, tornados, hail, rain and 6inches of snow all within the last week.
