+534 I'm all for gay rights, but, just so you know, that doesn't mean I want you shoving it in my face and parading about trying to get people to accept you. Quite frankly, I don't care if you're gay or heterosexual: if you essentially try to mate in front of me, I will show you directions to the zoo that you clearly belong in, amirite?

What do you mean when you say "trying to get people to accept you"?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I interpreted that as getting in your face and forcing their information upon you, like Jehovah's Witness.

This post is worded terribly and could be construed in a million different ways. Is the second sentence even related to the first?

I think the post is straightforward and those struggling to read it have learning disabilities. She's saying that outrageous statements (perhaps dry-humping, or parading naked?) are distasteful, even with the intention of advancing gay rights. As a lesbian who has witnessed many a gay pride / homoerotic circus shows, I would agree. There are many other ways to communicate the beautiful message of blind love.

It kinda sounds like it's only bad when it's the gays. Tons of straight people do massive PDA in public but where are the people going, "hey i'm all for hetereo rights but stop shoving it in my face!" yayyy double standards :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's not a double standard, most people don't like seeing straight people with out outrageous PDA either.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Except fo the fact that the person clearly states that they don't care whether you're gay or straight, they just don't want to see over the top PDA.

Did you not read the post? " Quite frankly, I don't care if you're gay or heterosexual: if you essentially try to mate in front of me," It's about disliking people going overboard in their affection in public - it makes people uncomfortable, and it isn't nessacary. However, if you ask a same-sex couple to stop, people would accuse you of "homophobia" (which is a word that gets thrown around far too much, which distracts from real situations of heterosexism) - even if you would ask the same of an opposite-sex couple who was behaving in the same way.

I saw that I'm not a moron, I find it funny because he specifically outs gays the most. If he really hated just standard PDA he wouodnt have ousted gays more than straights. His post wouod have started at "Quite frankly" and been an anti PDA for all people. But the need to point out how gays parade around, yea that's mainly because a lot of people claim to be "all for gay rights" but get disgusted when people act gay in front of them.

So basically, it doesn't matter what your orientation is, just be respectful to others and don't try to force your beliefs on others.

"...Shoving it in my face.."(;

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well you certainly don't sound "all for gay rights" if you are negetive towards the idea of their love being proclaimed publically in front of you.. This may be just my interpertation, but to me it says you don't like public displays of affection from gays. People try to force being straight on others all the time. If a female and male kiss is the middle of the sidewalk, no one bats an eye, but if two males, or two females, do the same, people scorn. No one belongs in a zoo. Just my opinion.

I wish people would actually understand the post before they attempt ideological and judgemental rants. Is it a crime to make a social commentary about sexuality without being flamed?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

When was the last straight-rights parade? Kthx

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Every day for the past 2000 years.

Parading to gain acceptance? What an awful way to go about it. /sarcasm.
