If a foreigner asks me about South Africa I'd spin some stories about how beautiful everything here is and that our horses shit rainbows and stuff, but if I'm talking to another South African about SA you'll only here me insulting our government and complaining about crime.

Some days I'll read a horrible story in the news about a foreign government preventing parents from trying to find their children who are kidnapped or putting people in mental institutions for complaining, and I am so grateful that I live in America. But then other times the horrible story is about us, how we have a 65% obesity rate, how we have a defense budget higher than the next 40 countries combined but somehow can't find money to pay for public schooling, etc etc and I wonder why I live in a country with so many idiots.
