Hercules wasn't a prince, so it wouldn't make sense for her to be a princess.

Here's my opinion: Meg actually DID something! She didn't stand around and wait for Prince Charming. Mulan never married royalty but she is still classified as a "princess." And technically, if Hercules is a god, then isn't Meg a goddess? And what about Nala the lion? She actually IS royalty! Is Disney prejudiced against women that actually contribute to society?

Meg was probably one of the best Disney female influences on little girls. She was independent and wasn't stuck in the kitchen scrubbing floors and making beds, just waiting for her prince to come. She had some bite to her, ya know? Sarcastic and feisty. Not just a dainty little priss.

So should Pocahontas =[ because she was a princess for her culture And Mulan! She has nothing royal about her, but c'mon she saved China. Cinderella just did dishes and Aurora and Snow White just fell asleep. Mulan is waay more impressive.

Meg isn't a disney princess because the movie wasn't about her. The protagonist of Hercules was Hercules. Mulan is considered a disney princess because the movie she was in was centered around her. The same goes for all of the other disney princesses except for Jasmine.
