+149 Greatest man in history, named Jesus, had no servants, yet they called him Master. Had no degree, yet they called him Teacher. Had no medicines, yet they called him Healer. He had no army, yet kings feared Him. He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world. He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him..... He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today. amirite?

So happy to see this in the positives. Sin has lost its power, death has lost its sting.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Didn't exist, yet still has millions of blind believing he did.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

...you're a fucking idiot. Even the most profound atheists know that Jesus Christ existed, just as even the most dumb schoolchildren know that Julius Caesar existed.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

excuse me, poorly worded. he did not exist as the man the bible said he was. also, people think julius caesar didn't exist?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Someone in my western civilization class thought that Julius Caesar was Greek.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Google: Testimonium Flavianum The historian says Jesus was a, "doer of wonderful works".

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Excuse me kind sir, there actually isn't proof he existed.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

*facepalm* If historical records don't count anymore than sure.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Sure, there could have been a man from Nazareth who was crucified by the Romans and started Christianity, but there isn't any proof of him being any more holy than your average guy, or bearing of any other such traits.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think he was pretty holy. I mean, they put nails in his hands and feet.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

O i c wut u did thar.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I like how you're other arguments can't shot down and rejected but no one can muster a response to this one?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Haha yeah, worked out well.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

A sinless man was persecuted and kill with no rebellion. Only a holy person would do that.

Read Josephus, a historian of the time who says there is a man named Jesus who is doing wonderous things. That and the Bible (along with ther writings and archeological proof) is as much proof as we have for anything we haven't personally witnessed. According to your argument, we can't prove polio actually existed - we can read about it but we didn't see it ourselves.

So basically, he made people feel subordinate by calling him "master," he posed as a teacher and doctor without any qualifications (both of which are crimes), instilled fear upon people, took over the world (with the help of violent acts by his followers), and was murdered. Oh, and now he continues to haunt.

What? As I just showed, any statement can be flipped to make it say what you want. One could write something to romanticize the Holocaust, but that certainly doesn't make it the greatest event in history.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

But the difference is most people are in agreement that the holocaust WAS in fact worse than the existence of Jesus Christ.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hmm, that's debatable. The Holocaust was, in a way, caused by the existence of Jesus Christ. If Christianity hadn't evolved out of Judaism and the majority of the population was Jewish in Hitler's day, then Jews would not have been persecuted. But there are far too many "what if's" to use that as evidence. However, I would still contend that the total acts inspired by the existence of Yeshua ben Yosef were more detrimental to humanity than the total acts inspired by the existence of Adolf Hitler. Strictly statistically, the answer is pretty obvious. Jesus has had billions of followers for thousands of years, many of which carried out violent acts . Hitler had millions of followers for decades, many of which carried out violent acts.

Trololol?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No, but I was more pondering aloud than attempting to debate.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, you’re sniping under every comment til there’s backlash. Then, I don’t wanna debate. Stand by your assertions.

by Anonymous 4 years ago

So you just blame Jesus for the actions of people who warped his message? Great, you think people don't have responsibility for their own actions. Yes, don't hold criminals responsible, just cut all the murderers and rapist loose. Oh wait. They already did that and crime has risen to historic levels.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

They called Jesus Master because He is God. He didn't pose as a teacher or doctor, He //was// a teacher and doctor who taught people about God's love and healed them from sicknesses. Clearly He's a horrible criminal. Moving on, those who feared Him did so because they knew He had the power of God. As for "taking over the world with violent acts from his followers", I don't recall Jesus ever saying, "Go and kill others so that I make take control of everything". Disregard those who actually kill in the name of God, they have very much mistaken what God wants from them. I think the only thing you got right is that He was murdered, but even that Jesus knew had to happen for a very important reason. Just because you can say, "Hitler was an excellent visionary with a strong determination" it doesn't change the truth of what he actually did. You can make Jesus sound like an awful villain, but it doesn't change that He was and still is our loving God.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Since the idea that Jesus may have been a messiah did not become widespread for hundreds of years after his death, it's clear the term "master" was simply one of general respect. Similarly, the Roman Empire did not fear him because they believed he was God -- they perceived his gathering of followers as a potential uprising and thus treated him like they did other suspected usurpers. As for "taking over the world," Jesus did nothing of the sort. He had a few thousand followers at the time of his death, but that figure is inconsequential when compared to the total population of the Middle East, let alone the Empire. Thus, it took the work of his followers (via crusades, conquests, wars, massacres) to make Christianity the most prevalent religion in the world today. If you're looking for evidence of Jesus/God commanding these acts, look no further than the Bible. It is loaded with God's murderous ways. Anyway, I was simply making a joke with my original comment. Adieu.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I could keep this debate going by pointing out all of the errors in that comment, but it's clear that you want to end it here, why is fine with me. Peace, and remember that God loves you.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You didn't flip a statement to make it seem like something else. It doesn't seem like anything but a lie, because that's what you just did. You just posted blatant lies that aren't based on anything except your your own mind. So no, you didn't illustrate anything except for once again you have NO knowledge about what you are saying.

by Anonymous 2 years ago

He didn't make anyone call him anything. Why don't you stop being ignorant and making ridiculous comments before you do some reading, instead of just making stuff up that wasn't in the actual post or in the scriptures. If you read a bit more you won't embarrass yourself like this.

I am an agnostic, but I think that Jesus was a pretty cool guy.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I really don't like this post In my world Jesus is not the greatest man to ever live. Yes he did live and he did get crucified but I don't believe he healed people and he didn't concur the world, He is know all over but his beliefs don't stand everywhere there are many other religions that take place in the world. I am the type of person that doesn't care what people believe in as long as I don't feel forced to follow or be told that my beliefs are wrong. I respect your beliefs but this posts make me feel as though that is what happen/what it is and there can be nothing else

by Anonymous 11 years ago

This is what I like about the amirite? at the end of posts. It makes a post like this state something controversial as an opinion instead of absolute fact.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Atheists go nuts!!

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I think the main flaw people are missing is that apparently some guy who lived ages ago is still alive

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Hey, it COULD happen.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

But how? The longest period of human life I can recall hearing about was around 120

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That, my friend, is where I come in. Along with Element 115.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

If something can come from nothing - the big bang - then why can't you believe in Jesus? It takes faith either way.
