Sometimes you wonder how dollar stores make money, amirite?

They sell you stuff that costs 3 cents to make and breaks in 2 days.

And then you see the candy section.

I used to work at one. They buy most of their products for 72 cents and sell it for a dollar plus tax. A lot of their stuff isn't even a good deal, but people still buy it because they think it's saving them money.

I've seen people go in dollar stores and spend thirty to fifty bucks.

that is me right there! you don't even realize you have that much stuff until you go to the checkout counter.

I know! Especially when you're buying party supplies or holiday things. That stuff seems to add up quicker than anything else.

I have seen things in dollar stores that are definitely more than one dollar.

dollar stores have to charge over a dollar for some items (certain foods, such as dairy products), because with the price they buy them for, they would barely be making any money off them if they didn't.

It's really just an eye opener on how much the other stores are probably making.
