+396 The Bible says that God created the earth and all of its inhabitants. It doesn't say the method(s) he used to do so. So in theory, he could have used ANY method... Even evolution. amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

People take the Bible too literally these days.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

See that pisses me off, people say don't take it literally now after science has basically disproved a majority of its sayings. It's bullshit you either believe in the bible or you don't. It's not a bunch of metaphorical shit, it's God's word and that's how He wants you to believe it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Cussing does not really help your defense of the Bible...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

a word is a word and it's not really mentioned you shouldn't curse in the bible. Cursing doesn't make the point any less valid; that's just people trying to take away from it by trying to shine light on frivolous things that don't matter

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I agree so much. To me being a Christian is believing in what the Bible says literally. Not interpret the bible in your own way. Nowadays everyone says the Bible is not to be taken literally but metaphorically and subjectively. But if you do that then you're not really a follower of that religion. I mean, if you're making subjective interpretations of the Bible you may end up following a completely different religion than someone else who also read the Bible and claims to be a Christian. Because you see, the way people interpret things changes with time, and that's what has happened with many religions, which is a bit strange for something is supposed to be sacred, eternal and everything else people say.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

the problem with interpreting the bible literally is that cultures have changed drastically since the bible was written, and while the ideas in the bible may have suited its time period, they come into conflict with many modern ideologies. for example, gay marriage, abortion, etc.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The thing is, we know that some things aren't the way the bible says.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well first, science has actually PROVEN what the bible says. For example, in the creation story, the order in wich God creats the world is the EXACT SAME order in wich scientist belive the earth was created. How would the diciples have know the order of the scientific creation of earth way back then? It tottaly proves the Bible is correct (at least that story). On the subject of taking the bible litteraly, you have to think about how it is God essential narrating it, if you know what I mean. Like how God created the world in 7 days. I don't belive he created in OUR deffinition of 7 days. God's day could be 50,000 years for all we know. That is how I look at the Bible.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I hardly consider that to be proof, but ok. And if you don't really know what the Bible says, because it was narrated by God, according to you, what values do Christians follow, if they can't understand with precision what the Bible says?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

religion is all about faith, i have faith in God and believe in him. So there for I have faith in the bible and follow it as best as I can. Religion wouldn't require faith if all you instructions and exploitations where handed to you on a silver plate. You have to believe and work at it. And how is it not evidence that the Bible is true?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Just because someone says something without any scientific base and then that happens to be true that doesn't mean anything. Besides, I read just now a summary of the genesis book and in day 5 birds were created and reptiles in day 6. That's not what science says, however. There's probably more things scientifically inaccurate things written in the Bible but I do not feel like reading the whole book, nor do I know enough about science to do that. And even if the whole thing was true according to science, how would that prove that everything else was also true? So according to you religion and all the values people of a certain religion follow are a guess? I'm not really getting the first part, sorry. Why do you think qualifies you better to understand the Bible than people born 2000 years ago? Do you think they were wrong and you're right?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Ill have to look at Genesis again, but I have always learned that it goes with science, and I have been learning about it for 14 years! I didn't say it was a guess. We have all the testimonies of the disciples, and the Jews also say that Jesus was alive and died and all that, so we know that he lived (it's improbable that everyone is wrong). We also have scientific proof, for lack of a better term, of miracles done by saints. Google some of them and the process by which someone is called a saint. I didn't say that I understand the bible better than others so I don't know what your talking about there... But any religion requires faith. Faith is not guessing, Faith is the confident belief or trust in the truth or trustworthiness of a person, concept or thing. I believe that the bible is right and it makes the most sense to me (I have also read the Quran'n and Torah). SO now I have faith that it is the truth. that is hoe religion works.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So you believe in what the Bible says? Every word of it?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I believe that the Bible is real if that's what your asking. I believe that every word is true in someway, whether it represents a bigger idea of actually happened. There are some things in the Bible that I may not get or totally understand or live by, but im not an adult yet so i have some time to figure things out. That is what religion is to me. A way to figure things out. And I have chosen Catholicism, so yeah I believe in everything the Bible says.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm not getting into the fact that if you actually believe in the Bible you're approving of things like stoning people to death for the most idiotic reasons, so I'll just move on. You said you chose catholicism, why did you? Why not some other religion? Why the Bible and not some other "sacred" book?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Just to address your first paragraph really quick.... I relize there are some things in the bible such as stoning, but that dosn't mean we accept that. in other words, it was not written in to the Bible as somthing we should do, it is somthing that had ben done by people at those times. In one of the more famous stories, Mary of Magdalen commited adultry and was about to be stoned when jesus stepped in and tought against it and such. So actully the bible says you should not stone. Sorry that wan't quick but I had to address it :)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The Bible does say stoning is something we should do. And it also says that stoning is something we shouldn't do. There are a lot more contradictions like this in the Bible

by Anonymous 12 years ago

True, but ti says that you should stone people i nthe old testament, and Chatholics follow both old and new, bu tif there is a contrradiction, we follow the new testament. And I didn't say I belived every single little thing or would do it. But I ahree with pretty much the whole religion.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So why i chose Chatholicism... well i was first raised as non denominational but then we moved and went to a chatholic church, so i had gotton both sides of Christianity. (I also attende a Lutherean church a few times with my frnd). I have read the thorah and such and i absolutaly belive in Moses and all those jewish ideas, but I also belive that jesus had been the son of God becuase I looked at all the things he did and all of the testement of his life and that is just what clicked...what I belived. ( I also did a bunch of reaserch on Islam and that didn't work for me at all so i'm not even gonna talk about it).

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If you believe that the choice of one's religion is based on what we click on, on what relates to us more, then you must believe people with other religions are right. You think the values of the Bible are correct, well, some of them are and I think you only believe in those, so... follow those and be happy.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Actually I'm glad you said that. Chatholics (and i think mabey all Christians but Im not positive) belive that there is some truth in every religion and that every religion is some small part of what God tells us, but this is the one that we think covers almost everything. There is also a story in the Bible that tells us that if you live accroding to God's word even if you are not Chrisitan you will go to hevean. in other words if you worship God in his other names. So we absolutaly don't belive that you are danmed if you don't belive in our God. i hate how some people think that, but they don't acttaly know what we belive, they just take the mainstream media's word for it. So with that said, you are agnostic right? Have you learned about other religions or...?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm not sure what I am, but I guess agnostic would be the best definition for me. I learned about about Christianity, seeing I was raised catholic, but besides that I don't know much about other religions.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

(Anonymous):technically, it's not god's word. It's a bunch of random people's words.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

please stop.

(areyoutiredofmeyet?): Stop what?

Except evolution has created animals that weren't on Noah's ark...weren't even around to be on his ark

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Find me a list of every animal on noahs ark

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Here we go again...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hey look it's a post about God that's NOT in the negatives. Perhaps this will shut up all the annoying Christians who claim we infringe on their rights and are all anti-religious.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

THANK YOU! I AM A CATHOLIC AND I FULLY BELIEVE IN EVOLUTION!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

He said it, and it happened. So no..

by Anonymous 12 years ago

For crying out effing loud. Look, I believe in God with all my heart. I believe He controls the world and cares and all that, but just because He exists and is real and here and created everything DOESN'T MEAN EVOLUTION ISN'T REAL. EVERYTHING changes constantly. People die and disintegrate. You were born and now you're posting stuff on this miracle known as the Internet. Inventions are made and discoveries are made and things that look kind of like guppy fish are actually tadpoles and grow effing legs and green-ness and have a really, really long tongue relative to its general size. God started everything, put the universe in motion, gives humanity a nudge every now and then, heals people that doctors have given up on, kills others in an instant. Yeah, sure, okay. But evolution is simply evolving. Humans and animals evolve - we create cars and computers, animals adapt to the lessening of their homes - it's all evolution. Science and religion can totally co-exist.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

But why would he do that? He said "let there be light" and light appeared. Not some whole process. Humans like to complicate everything, when really its all simple.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Why would He do what? And sure, it doesn't say that "And He said "Let there be light", whereupon He made the gases and chemicals and things that create light" but that's how it works. And light doesn't exactly evolve unless we're talking about rainbows and prisms, which still isn't really evolving, so I don't get your point.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The book of Genisis is from the point of view of God so to speak. It's not like he just clappe his hands and light apperard, he did somthing more but we as humans wouldn't understand it so it's put in tearms we understand. Like the 7 day thing, it is in terms that we can understand.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

"God is a concept by which we measure our pain"

by Anonymous 12 years ago

John Lennon quote. Very nice, very nice. Love that song.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, it does say that he created all beings as they are and always will be, but I honestly don't know.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

are you people for real? Read Genesis 1! God didn't use evolution to make the world. It says, a lot of times, "God said __________ and it was so".

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah he made them, but then he let them live as they wished. I don't belive God made the elephants, I think he made the bacteris that, wati for it, EVOLVED in to the animals we know today. I really hope people are so close minded that they don't think both science and God can be real.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't buy that. "Let there be cookies!" Yeah... no cookies. It has to be MADE somehow.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If I'm now mistaken the original word used which is then translated into 'day' refers directly to a 24 hour time period. The day-age theory, which is what you are propossing doesn't seem logical to me. If God is omnipotent why would he take that long to create something? Also, I'm never seen any proof of evolution, so people should stop saying it's fact, just as creation is a theory. I admit it's a theory, it's the theory I believe in, but I'm not going to shove it down someine's throat as fact.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If each day wasn't literally 24 hours all the plants would have died. Plants need sunlight to survive. He made the plants on day three and the sun day four. Read it. Just light was created first day. So if it was millions of years between the plants would have died. Plus it also said He created each after it's own kind. Yeah tadpoles "evolve" into frogs. But it's ALWAYS tadpoles to frogs or toads. Never tadpoles to birds or something.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Technically plants don't need sun to live, just light.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Just read some of the comments. You can believe in God and evolution, but if you believe that every event that happened in the Bible is true, then you can't possibly believe in evolution.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Why not? I believe in both. I think God created the first animals and such and they evolved on their own. Why can't I believe both?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The entire Bible is a contradiction. It contradicts everything it contains. The Bible says that there really is no excuse for people to look at life and not give credit to God. (Romans 1:20) The Bible doesn't support that God used evolution because it says that he created things according to their kind. (Gen 1:24, 25). The Bible also says that your superhuman created the world in 6 days, not 4.5 billion years.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Uh yeah. I belive that God created the first bactieria or watever and he created it according to it's kind, but he left the world to do as it wished and they evolved in to the elephants and such that we know today. Why is that so hard to fathom? It seems simple to me.... And the bible says a day fo GOD'S time. How do we know how long God's day is? Mabey God's day is .642 billion years? he is super as you said.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

In the book of Genesis, it says that God created individually every single bird of the sky and every single fish of the sea. Not step out from the sky and drop a couple cells of bacteria onto land.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Thats because he was telling this to people from a very long ime ago. Like, a very very long time ago. Back then they could not comprehend the existemce of such small life. God never gives you more than you can handle, and the anchient jews could not handle that knowledge yet. So God put it in terms we could understand. Not everything is litteral you know. and the Jewish people belive in the old testement too.

What happened to your grammar?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It ran away.... along with my spelling in 3rd grade :)
