+280 It's actually pretty weird that nurses go to work and from work wearing their scrubs. That's probably pretty unhygienic, especially if they take public transportation. It would be better if they change into them at work, amirite?

I've never thought of that.

That bothers me on Grey's. Yes, I know Grey's isn't real, but still. The doctors (the ones watching the surgery or talking to the surgeons) who've been surrounded by sick people go into an OR with all their germs and expect their half-scrubs to be a germ barrier. Or when they go from one OR to another part of the hospital in the same scrubs, no matter how many sick people they pass.

we change into our scrubs when we're already in the hospital:)

Are you from the U.S.? Cause I'm sure they do it in other countries, they don't do that here though, I don't think.

It all depends what type of nurse the person is. An intensive care nurse or an ICU nurse will have two different pairs of scrubs, one for general hospital use and another for the ward they work in. Also, very few nurses that work in actual hospitals (not nursing homes, aged care facilities or mental health care facilities ) will wear their scrubs out of the hospital because some of the larger hospitals will provide free washing of scrubs in a more hygienic method. I do agree with the Grey's anatomy comment another this to add is how they walk around with long sleeve shirts under their scrubs - in all the hospitals i've been too shirts like that have been banded as they harbor all sorts of bacteria. Then again there are some basic mistakes in grey's that you just have to forget about it sometimes.
