Dear God: Immaculate conception would have been a lot more convincing if Joseph was the one who got pregnant. Amirite?

I don't think God wanted Jesus to be born from a man...not only is that disturbing and creepy, but God is already Jesus' father.

I imagine Joseph would probably get stoned to death if people found out he was pregnant.

Yes, their thought process would be "It's unnatural, KILL HIM!" and if it happened in this day and age the reaction would probably be the same.

That, or most hits on Youtube for a few days.

his butt. or his mouth. or his weeny. or it could claw out of his stomach. they have fingernails you know. FINGERNAILS!

The Immaculate Conception wasn't the conception of Jesus, it was the conception of Mary. That's why it's on December 8th. It couldn't be Jesus because we celebrate Christmas less than a month after that. It was called the Immaculate Conception because Mary was the only human to be born entirely without sin.

@Hullabaloo Wasn't it Jesus that was born without sin?

Jesus was too, but Mary was the only human (who wasn't also God) to be born sinless. And the Immaculate Conception is the conception of Mary. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immaculate_Conception

@Joe_Larson Protestants don't believe the Mary as sinless bit. Are you Catholic?

And I'm pretty certain that most Protestants believe Mary is sinless. It says so in the Bible.

In the Wikipedia article you posted it says "For differing reasons, belief in Mary's immaculate conception in the Catholic doctrinal form is not part of the official doctrines of the Eastern Orthodox, Anglican and Protestant churches." Yes I did actually listen to you and read the article you posted.

What I was proving with the article is that the Immaculate Conception is not the conception of Jesus as implied by the post, but is the conception of Mary.

Yes but the article also explained that protestants do not beleive in the immaculate conception.

Um yeah most protestants don't believe Mary was sinless. Can I have that scripture reference? Cuz I've never heard of a verse that said that.

Scripture as in biblical scripture? The Protestants happened long after the Bible so they Bible wouldn't say anything about what Protestants beleive. I've been going to Anglican church my entire life and I've never even heard of Mary's immaculate conception. I've only heard of Jesus's conception. Then again, I don't really pay that much attention.

Okay, that's fair. I thought that it was in the scriptures, and I thought some of my Protestant friends had said something, but I was wrong. My bad.

That's okay. I always thought the Immaculate conception was about Jesus until I read what you said.
