People are dumb who do drugs. It's a waste of money, and it can ruin your life. If your caught with drugs, it's hard to find a job, get into college, and high school sports could be taken away.

Billie Holiday, Edgar Allen Poe, Janis Joplin, Dr. Timothy Leary, Joni Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, the fucking Beatles,... all dumb were they? I'd counter to say that they were all in fact extraordinary human beings. "Human" being the key word. Flawed, mostly tragic, but unapologetically human. Since when does that inspire contempt? Personally I don't find that to be a civilized response. I'm not against recreational drug use, but I do think that certain people, for whatever emotional reasons, don't have the ability to do (albeit hard) drugs and maintain proper control of their lives. And that's sad. But it's their choice, and even without drugs addiction takes many forms. About the money issue, who is it a waste for? Do you go to the movies ever? Is that a waste if it's something you enjoy? And don't argue that it isn't harmful, I pretty sure it's the shitty movies (and TV shows, and sensationalist news, and most things from the media come to think of it) that is...

The sad thing is that Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Billie Holiday died because of drugs. Well, Billie Holiday didn't die from OD, but from liver disease which drugs probably had something to do with. They were great people, but drugs caused their deaths...

No, they died from the MISUSE of drugs. And I fully think that sucks, which is why I mentioned some people aren't able to handle (hard) drugs. You want to know what else are dangerous? Automobiles. How many people die in automobile related accidents, even when they are not remotely at fault? Should we all stop driving? Not to mention what they do to our environment, and that is hurting everyone, future generations included. And gas prices, come on! Talk about a waste of money. But we wont stop, will we? Because we like the luxury and it makes our lives easier so we take the risk, don't we? If you don't like/want to do drugs that's great. Nobody is asking you to, but respectfully lay off the people that do.

It's not cool in *some people's* opinions. :P And drugs don't always ruin people's lives. Obviously stay away from coke and heroin and crystal meth, and anything else that's like those, and if you're an easily-addicted person, stay away from everything. :P But done responsibly and occasionally, drugs are most likely fine. The only real problem is that they're illegal, and drug users don't really have any control over that, so they can't be blamed for what the government decided to dislike. :P

I know some people who smoke weed, and you would never know. They own a very successful business, they are good, loving parents, and very respectable people. I think people rag on people who smoke weed way too much, sure it may not be healthy, but everyone has their own vice. I'm against drugs (including weed), yet it's my own personal choice, if someone else does it, so be it. Why not complain about porn addiction? If a husband (or wife, I suppose) is addicted to porn that can tear apart a family. What about gambling addiction? Honestly, I know some people who drink 3 44oz things of coca-cola every day, I think that's way worse than smoking weed a couple times a week. Now, with that being said, weed can ruin lives, I've seen it happen. Everyone is different, some people can smoke weed without it ruining their lives, some people can't. It's tough.

Maybe they've ruined your life, but they haven't ruined mine. Everyone has their own way of finding happiness. Sounds like yours is judging people based on one aspect and acting superior to them. Personally, I think that's much more harmful, both to you and to society, than drugs ever will be.

I've met some people who love to smoke weed who are getting into some of the best universities in the world. They did it for fun and relaxation though, not to cope with problems. It's usually the people who do drugs to cope with problems that have their lives ruined, because more problems come, then more and harder drugs.
