Most trans women do use female bathrooms, I think - although I should point out here that that stupid "man in a dress" stereotype is far from true - hormones do wonders for changing your appearance, and most the of the trans girls I know just wear normal clothes - just jeans and a nice top. I'm a transsexual man, and use the male bathrooms, but I don't think that's as big a "controversy" as trans women - if people mistake me for a woman, then a perceived woman using a men's bathroom isn't as big a threat as a perceived man using a women's bathroom. Although things like "men would wear dresses just to go to women's bathrooms to rape women" is just crap - anyone wanting to rape a woman would just stroll into a bathroom, and the majority of trans people just want to pee and get out. Sorry, you probs didn't want a huge reply.

Well, since people are for some reason segregated by gender anyway, I don't see how that would be much worse. I just think *everyone* should use the same bathrooms, partially because it'd probably make it easier for some trangendered people who wouldn't know where they were supposed to go, and also because it just doesn't seem fair or reasonable to separate people's bathrooms based on gender. :/

Oh, okay. But wouldn't that only happen rarely? And people can sexually harass each other anywhere, right? So would it really be *that bad* if there were non-separated bathrooms? In my primary school, the bathrooms weren't separated, and nothing bad happened (I know that's different, but still).

Segregation by gender isn't stupid - the differences between male and females are greater than those between sexualities or races. It isn't discrimitory to divide personal places like bathrooms into males and females. And, most trans people do know where they're supposed to go - usually to the bathroom of the gender they identify as, or are presenting as. And, to be honest, trans and intersex people make up less than 0.1% of the population, so not really a good reason.

Okay. My kinda point about trans people was basically regarding a video in which a trans woman got beat up for using the girls bathroom. :/ If bathrooms weren't separated, that wouldn't happen.

I understand, stuff like that does happen, which is why anti-discrimination laws need to be in place for trans people, but getting rid of gendered toilets isn't the answer. BTW, not that it matters much, but you're probably talking about the Chrissy Lee Polis case that happened at McDonalds, which wasn't really a transgender hate crime - it was found out later that she was attacked for flirting with another women's boyfriend, and that the attackers didn't know at the time that she was trans, and the bathroom had nothing to do with it. But, yeah, it didn't happen in this case, but it does happen in other ones.

I'm not gay myself, but WHEN WILL PEOPLE LEARN that not every gay person wants to rape everyone of the gender they're interested. A gay man is just a man that is sexually attracted to men rather than women. Not every straight man wants to rape every woman they see(at least I don't)

personally I think its a good idea. Even though I'm straight, I would use the gay bathroom because I assume they would be much cleaner, than "straight" bathrooms.
