Yes, that is true, though it doesn't always make an ass out of the one against whom the assumptions are being made, though perhaps in the minds of the one making them....

(Formonitrile) The way I look at it is, when you assume, the one whom the assumptions are being made automatically becomes defensive and irritated, because of you, so you are both annoyed at each other and being asses.
