Not necessarily paranoid, but in order to keep them safe. I didn't mean it to come off in a paranoid way. :/ Like, say they had a drug or alcohol addiction, you wouldn't be able to necessarily stop them from getting back into something like that while they're gone. And you can't make sure they stay out of trouble.
