+406 Presidential election results would be very different if the candidates didn't announce who was Republican and who was Democratic- if they only declared their beliefs/ policies/ plans and people were left to vote based upon only that, amirite?

You can usually tell a person's party by their beliefs/policies/plans.

True. As long as they didn't exaggerate the fact that they were against abortion or for gay marriage or whatever policy it might be to try and indicate which party they were running for, it'd be okay.

Yea, but in most of the popular debate topics, the parties have taken a side

I think that that's the problem with American politics today; it's not the candidate's beliefs that are represented but the party's. So many people vote because someone is labeled as one party or the other.

Yes, that is a problem. Candidates have to take up all of the party's beliefs, otherwise they won't be nominated by that party. I mean, you haven't seen an Independent winning a presidential race.

Nope. It's a shame...

Isn't that how it was supossed to be like when we founded the country? It would also be beneficial if people didn't know what the person looked like. Some race or gender shouldn't matter in your decision. It should be what they believe

No, we should vote on our beliefs and the president would be elected from that.
