Care to explain what a literature circle is?

(Chauncy Pickles): It's where you tear a book apart and line up its remnants into a circle and light the circle on fire. You then stand inside the circle and do a Native American rain dance.

Is that really a common ritual? I thought it was only indigenous to my region of the world.
