+177 Even if you're horrible at something, just remember that you're 10000x better at it than someone not trying, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

1. Mathematically, 0 (which is what you're implying) multiplied by any number is still 0 2. Action does not indicate skill. If a 5 year old tries to make a circuit board and I don't, I'm still better at it than the 5 year old. If you're referring to better than someone who can never tried it, you are still incorrect since some people have a natural propensity for certain things while others do not.

Yay! My first bad comment! I've been waiting for one if these! Woo Hoo!

Logically speaking, your math is bad. If you're a normal person, you start count at level 1 and not at level 0. Even if a computer says level 0, it would still be level 1, because that's the first level. And although this post isn't 1000% accurate, it still makes a good point. Because while you being a hollow shell of a person can only see it "mathematically" a normal person would say that, even if you're horrible at something, attempting to do something has made you a better person. Even if someone who has never tried is better than you at it, it still doesn't matter because you tried and even if you failed, you still gained new experience.

I'm a hollow shell of a person? I'm not going to bother arguing with someone who uses ad hominem attacks with no provocation whatsoever.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I mean if you have a reason for saying what you said, you can put it here. Unless you have a personal problem with the op, I really don't see why you would take such a post at face value, when the deeper meaning is clearly laid out in front of you.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm familiar with the overarching idea behind this post. It's not exactly groundbreaking. So I chose to react to it at face value. Is that wrong somehow?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah that's wrong somehow... if it's the same person posting the same message over and over, it MIGHT have been okay to say that. However that's probably not the case, so your comment is unnecessary, anyone can read a sentence and understand the face value of it. The op probably saw this for the first time and was excited to share this with everyone. Haven't you ever heard of the aphorism, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it." Besides your "math" IS wrong, no one starts anything at level 0, even if you look at games when you're playing it for the first time, it starts at level one. If you're ranking up, one is the highest rank, not 0.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh lovely. I seem to have infringed on some higher morality I was unaware of. You seem to be under the impression I was being mean to the poster. What made you come to that conclusion? The fact that I chose to comment on the faulty logic of it? I bear no ill will toward Chefleftie or their post. And yes I'm familiar with the phrase "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it.". Thumper said it rather eloquently in Bambi. And my math actually is correct. Continuing your game analogy (hardly applicable logically to math, but I'll roll with it), someone who hasn't started the game, which is the type of situation this post refers to, will never have achieved the initial level of "1". Therefore they would be at "0" as I initially stated.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No... the game begins with level 1, so if you haven't started playing the game yet, it will stay at 1. It won't increase or decrease. AND this probably doesn't help your case, but you said "0 (which is what you're implying)" op is obviously implying 1. Besides even if what you said at level 0 is correct, even IF it was correct, you still didn't get the message the op is trying to deliver which is; attempting something will make you a better person, even if your skill level is low. I'll give you an example, if someone studies everyday and every night for a test and you don't study at all for it and you both take the test and you do better than the guy who studied all day and all night, the person who tried is still better because they actually pushed their limit and challenged themselves (resulting in new acquired knowledge), where as you're at the same position you were before the test.

Oh for fucks sake and in the name of all the gods ever imagined by mankind! Maybe you should try reading something I've said instead of having your head up your ass. I get the point of the post. It isn't a complex point and it is immediately apparent. I've said that multiple times, so stop explaining the damn thing to me. And yes the hypothetical "game" starts at 1, and it will never be 0. HOWEVER someone who has never started the game will never have reached level 1 simply because they have not participated in the game. therefore they would, in fact be level 0.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I was going off of your first comment... it didn't seem like you understood the point of this post, until I explained it to you smirk Anyways you can't be at level 0 for a game, because there is no such thing... how can you be something that doesn't exist?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah. You're obviously not going to understand no matter how many times I explain it. Have fun with that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No you!

So many notiications... Honestly, this shouldnt be a big deal. It's ok.
