At my school, it's more like people dress super inappropriately and make me lose hope that we might ever not have to wear uniform.

at my school we have a strict dresscode and have to wear polos and it doesnt really bother me that much but somedays i just feel like wearing a t-shirt or sweatpants. it just gets annoying after awhile.

At my first high school, we had a uniform, and even though they were super strict about it, it was more or less ok At my second high school, they didn't have a uniform, and everyone just ended up coming to class in sweatpants, old clothes, even in boxers or without shirts. I'm pretty sure by the end of the year I was one of the few kids who bothered to put jeans on instead of coming to class in pajamas.

It's not about whether or not you take advantage of the option, it's the fact that it's there, that matters!

I don't see what the big deal about wearing a school uniform is. It makes life a whole lot easier, and people can still express themselves outside of work and the classroom. They aren't that uncomfortable either, and even having embroidered shirts makes things more simple and uniformed.
