+294 It's hard to take your doctor seriously when s/he's morbidly obese and tells you to "eat healthy". Amirite?

I have heard of this before. Like, doctors being really unhealthy, psychiatrists being really mentally stressed, etc. I don't think it's a "do as I say, not as I do" thing, but I remember reading that really intelligent people often don't take good care of their health. Like, there's lots of types of intelligence, and you'd think a smart person would know to balance it out and eat well for their minds, but apparently not.

You read that on cracked.com, amirite?

Of course. I don't even know why schools still exist, the Internet teaches me more than teachers ever could.

My doctor is an old man who in a sense wears bow ties because he wears bow ties and his shirts all have bow ties on them and his belt and shoes have them but he wears normal pants and I remember one time he wore a bow tie with bow ties on it.

My pediatrician liked to tickle people. As a young child I hated him because he scared me and because I HATED being tickled, but I saw him two years ago when I injured my arm and he somehow thought he could pull the same crap on a fourteen-year-old girl, so my new theory is that he's a pedophile.

But if you take it that way, you can't really trust any doctor at all. For all you know, they may be bulimic or anorexic, or they could have some sort of illness caused by either excessive drinking or smoking. They could appear to be healthy without really being so.

"Do as I say not as I do" They're the doctor, you're the patient. You've obviously fucked up enough to warrant a visit to the doctor, so you shouldn't really be looking for excuses for not following doctor's advice. Doctor's aren't superheroes or gods, they're fucking human like the rest of us. They get temptation, they may be weak-willed when it comes to certain things like all of us, but one thing they have that we don't is a medical degree, so let's make that the priority and realise that whatever the doctor looks like, he/she (usually) knows better than you about your ailment so shut the fuck up and take the advice

If only you didn't write this anonymously.

My doctor is a really really skinny woman, but that would be weird hmm

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That doesn't mean you shouldn't eat healthy.

Then they're probably speaking from experience.
