+284 People complain about "killing trees" when a piece of paper goes to waste, but at that point, the tree is already dead, amirite?

it's pretty much the same with vegetarians..

To sum it up: If we used less paper, there would less of a demand for labor, so paper companies would stop making as much. Supply-Demand.

Exactly! I don't know why this concept is so hard for people to grasp.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And by labor, I mean paper. I have no idea how that happened...

Bro Fact! 1 tree can produce up to 100,000 sheets of paper. So stop being a tree hugger and quit complaining about wasted paper.

There are billions of people on this planet. Most of which throw out clean sheets of paper for no reason. Let's say only a billion people waste a single sheet of paper paper. 1,000,000,000/100,000 = 10,000 trees killed for absolutely no reason. Just saying.

That's assuming none of the paper is from recyled things...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not everyone recycles. And I only amounted for 1 billion people. Even if say half the population recycled their piece of paper there would still be a ton of wasted trees. And again that's just one piece of paper. We use a TON of paper in our lives and I highly doubt any person is going to waste only 1 sheet. My point is, just don't waste paper. Don't toss out a sheet just because "it's only one sheet. "

I think it's more of a wasting trees sort of thing. Yeah, the tree died, but make sure it didn't die in vain by actually using the paper.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

However, if you recycle, then that piece of paper can be reused and less trees will have to be cut down later. Also, supply-demand, as someone said above. Same thing with vegetarianism.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If you throw away a piece of paper that could be reused, you are causing another tree to be killed in order to make more paper.

Less paper wasted = less demand for paper = less trees killed in the future. That's what people mean when they say that.
