+434 How do the "do not walk on grass" signs get there, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

There's this thing called a sign-shooter. It's a tube-like thing that you can program to shoot out whatever sign you need. So what happens is the sign-shooter(it's really not a well-paid job) stand on the roof, or, if not available, a ladder, and shoots the sign onto the grass, therefore observing the newly created sign's rules and keeping the peace. LOL, he walks on it.

People put them there... As far as I know, the rule wouldn't apply to the person putting the sign there, because for one thing, the sign wouldn't have been there when they originally stepped onto the grass, and also, rules like that often tend not to apply to the people who make them.

Those signs are usually on the edge of where the grass starts. Like by the sidewalk .

Funny yet completely unrelated story: An artificial lake in my town was recently drained for routine maintenance. While walking by, my friend and I noticed something down in the lake bed, and we climbed down to have a look. It was a metal sign, badly corroded and still anchored in the ground by a block of concrete. We wiped off some of the scum and found that it read "Keep off the grass." I guess they couldn't be bothered to remove it when they turned the area into a lake.

They tunnel under the grass and push the sign up.

Well they definitely don't walk there if that's what you're implying.

There's a satellite in outer space launched in 1964 that specializes in shooting signs into patches of grass, the signs usually travel at 17,000 MPH when shot and are inside a metal pod to prevent the sign from burning up in the atmosphere. The metal pod breaks apart when a few hundred miles in the air and the sign smashes into the grass and stays in place with the wooden spike on the end of the sign. Because of the wooden spike, it makes quite a mess when the sign misses the grass and hits somebody nearby. There has been 2 recorded deaths due to signs hitting people instead of the nearby grass one was in Moscow, Russia, 1976 when Victor Kozlov was struck in the head by a sign and exploded into a million pieces of flesh and bone due to the force of the spiked end of the sign. The next recorded case was in fact this year when Thomas Anderstine was struck by a sign and had the same results that Victor had; Tom still has pieces of him still stuck on the walls and ground.

The United Nations are currently deciding if they should keep the satellite operating or shut it down to prevent another accident similar to Victor's or Thomas' accident from occurring again.

Why would they need to walk on the grass to put the sign there?
