Well they, like me, believe that when the world ends, God will come back and bring his people back to heaven with him, while the rest of the unsaved people spend eternity in hell where it is all pain and suffering for the rest of their days

See I don't quite understand that bit about eternity in hell. It's not like your parents punish you forevermore for doing something wrong, and for a lot of things neither does the government. And last I heard, God's supposed to be a lot more merciful than either your parents or the government.

Well I'm just 16 so I don't know everything about Christianity but way back God sent Jesus down to earth. Some people did not believe he was the son if god, which he claimed to be. He was, but selfish people brutally killed him on a cross. He died for everyone on the cross because we are all sinners and he died so we can be forgiven of ours sins. God just wants us to thank and acknowledge him by asking Jesus into your heart and accepting him into your life. Only then can will you go to heaven. Ever since I became a christian my life has been so much better. :)

See, this part just doesn't make any sense to me: "He died for everyone on the cross because we are all sinners and he died so we can be forgiven of ours sins." Because basically what it's saying is that we can all be serial killers without a sanity problem and IT'S ALL OKAY BRO, STILL GOINTA HEAVEN. Not saying that God and Jesus are saying it's okay, but they're saying you won't be punished for it even though it's a completely messed-up thing to do. I mean what if Hitler accepted Jesus? He's still in heaven?

Yes. It's not okay, but you will still be saved. That's the great part about being a christian; you don't have to be baptised, pray to statues, etc. To be ensured into heaven. You will be rewarded for all the good things you have done and the thing is, when you die you will be face to face with god and talk about everything (good and bad) that you have done in your life. So if you killed millipns of people, you have to face him on judgement day. So we should all do great things and live our lives to improve the world because you will be rewarded in heaven for all of your good deeds. :)

Wait. Not quite clear... Are you saying that if I accept Jesus, I can be a horrible, evil person, who never does a good deed in her life, but I'm still going to heaven? Except the thing is I won't be rewarded for good things I've done because I haven't done anything good, so basically I'll just hang around and twiddle my thumbs for eternity? 'Cause you're all, "So if you killed millions of people, you have to face him on judgement day." And that means... what exactly? God's gonna give me a stern look and then I get to chill?

Hey, I'm not God himself. Like I said I'm only 16 but yes, if you accept Jesus, you will go to heaven. Even if you are evil. But that is not how christians live. We're not evil. But I suppose if you wanted to kill people and then ask god for forgivness, you're still going to heaven. :)

How does that make any sense to you? That you think that God will be thrilled to accept you to where He is for all eternity and you get to bask in His light and awesome and stuff, even though you are a horrible, evil person, so long as you're all, "Yeah, Jesus is God"? You think God only cares about Himself and how you relate to him? What does accepting Jesus as God DO for you? And I don't mean do for you as in heaven-or-hell, I mean do for you as a person. It doesn't make you a better person.

But you're not saying that accepting Jesus goes hand in hand with being a better person. You're saying that Hitler could've been all, "Okay, Jesus is God" and he'd still go to heaven. And my question still stands - why on earth do you think that Jesus accepts all who accept him as God goes to heaven and those who don't, don't?

You can't just say "Ok Jesus is God... Done." You have to pray and accept him into your life. And furthermore, I think that because that is what God told the people back then. See before, when everyone believed in God, everyone went to heaven. But then after the people were not living christ-like, god said (and don't quote this, i'm not a priest) that you have to believe jesus is the son of god and accept him into your life to go to heaven.

Except there was no point in time when everybody did that. And okay, not quoting that. However, since you said it - why do you have to even believe in a god at all to go to heaven? Why isn't just being a good person enough? There are totally good atheists out there, but you're saying they won't go to heaven. Like, ever. Because they were missing the whole "Jesus is God" bit.

Yep. You can be an amazing person that rarely does anything bad but if you're not a christian, you go to hell. I don't make the rules, I just follow them. It's funny because I've asked these same exact questiond you're asking me. I wish I was more knowledgable (correct spelling?) lol but I'm not. :/

Because I'll never get a satisfactory answer. And fine, so he cares if you're a good person, but that still doesn't explain why he apparently seems to care more if you believe in him, and that, and that ALONE, is the only factor in which he might let you into heaven. Seriously, what do you think heaven and hell are about?

Possibly because they're nice people who are making a last-ditch attempt at bringing the world 'round before they all burn in hell for all eternity. Not that I agree with the whole burn-in-hell-for-eternity idea, nor the idea that we could possibly predict the end of the world and it's a kind of arrogant thing to assume you can do, but still.
