+351 When you think about it, Grandpa Joe from Willy Wonka is kind of an ass. As soon as he gets the opportunity to tour the factory, he's all of the sudden the picture of health. He was just lazing around in bed all these years, when he could have been working to help his poor family afford food, amirite?

He had no motivation

Uhh, how about the health of his family?

It's not like someone would be like "I don't think I can walk... I'm not gonna try. I'll just lie here." He was just so excited about a tour of the magical place everyone got fired from he jumped up and danced.

No. Charlie was like, grandpa I wish you could come with me. And he's like "wait a minute! Let me try!" Like okayy... Why didnt you try when we needed you?

The ticket and tour were months apart, the movie just didn't show it. He supposedly went through rudimentary physical therapy in order to be able to do it.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I read the book, but I don't remember anything about physical therapy.

If going through physical therapy would allow him to get up and move around easily he could have definitely done that a long time ago ;__;

The physical therapy was assumed. In the movie, during the song, Charlie helps him up and everything. I always thought it was a representation of him going through PT. And I agree Emperor.

It always cracks me up when it gets to the part where they're flying and he's all like "Weeeeeee!! Wee, weeeee!!"

Or collect EI at least. That rat bastard..

Hahahah I can't belive I never noticed this before!

"If you really think about it..." and mention of a childhood story should never be used in the same sentence. For one thing, it kills childhood slowly and completely with each fact pointed out. And for another thing, being a children's story, it doesn't HAVE to make sense.

It's just a joke. It's not serious..

It's not a cintroduction, It's a statement admitting a guilty pleasure. I don't like to delve too into children's stories, but I so so love to read these posts even though I shouldn't.

Although I do admit I love these posts.
