Not necessarily... Pretty by definition refers to things that are pleasing to the eyes or the ears. Beautiful can describe things that are excellent in any way.

I guess, but "generally seen as ugly" is not the same thing as "ugly". If a guy falls in love with a girl, it doesn't matter if she's "generally seen as ugly", she's still the "beautiful, pretty girl" to him. That was cheesy but true.
