I agree with the first part, but I rarely ever do the second part.

Music is more closely linked to a band's style, but an author can write an awesome book you odn't like because of the storyline.

I seldom list a musical artist. The only time I list artist is if the band in generally made good songs or the artist was a one-hit wonder.
