Sometimes I do it to make sure that they see me, to wave for letting me cross, or because I'm nervous. But yeah car vs man is not a real battle at all.

You wouldn't lose if the man is dead, which is largely possible if he tried to face the vehicle head on. You are in jail for a limited (probably) time, but you still have your life while the other guy is dead. Sounds like a win to me.

Just because you hit someone doesn't mean they're dead & even if they were their family would sue you & your liscense would be suspended or taken away. That's definitely not a win!

you would still lose if you have to live with the fact that you took another persons life for the rest of your life and you are constantly remined of that when taking a cab or riding your bike or whatever

I look at the car to make sure that it isn't too close to me and if I'm in the left turn lane to make sure that they don't have to turn
