too many deer 'round here, not enough animals that kill deer

That wouldn't be for sport, that would be hunting season, no? (Seriously asking, not sure what hunting laws include/if sport hunting is only allowed in hunting season)

Then it's not sport, it's culling. Culling, to an extent, is okay. So is hunting for food, as long as the animal doesn't suffer. I don't understand how anyone can find killing an innocent animal "fun". It's murder. If you want to shoot something so badly, take up archery or clay shooting. You'd have to be a really sick person to take satisfaction out of having a dead animal's head on your wall.

True, but that doesn't totally clarify it - many people eat the food, but still consider it a sport when they do it.

Right, but hunting for food =/= hunting purely for sport. This post refers to the people who do nothing with the corpses but show them off as trophies.

True. Hunting is more humane than factory farming, but I can't help but be more understanding of factory farm workers than hunters. Working conditions at factory farms suck, and no one works there unless they really need money. Hunting for sport, on the other hand, is something I'll never understand. An animal dies just so you can pat yourself on the back for being a good shot?

In Vermont they have a problem with the over population of deer so hunting there is a good thing.

Hunting for food/other animal products is okay but it's really sick when somebody kills an animal and mounts their head on the wall. That's just cruel.

I totally agree. My ex boyfriend's dad killed a bear and put the head in the freezer. He was going to mount it on the wall. I saw the head in the freezer and it made me sick.

It's not as cruel as it is disgusting. Seriously, why decorate your house with dead animal bits when you could just buy a painting?
