+258 Our kids won't have to deal with the frustrations of trying to explain technology to their parents, because though it'll be differen't in the future, we grew up with electronics so we won't have that hard a time adjusting to new things, amirite?

Electronic devices aren't a new thing.

Plus, I'm going in to that field. And I won't be having any kids.

Differen't ...

Yeah.

I agree just because I see myself always updating with the new products that come out but I still think there's a chance that something will come out that we don't think we'll need to use and it will become an everyday thing, leaving us in the dark like our parents are with computers.

"What do I do now?" "Double-click, mum." "Oh they still have that? Cause back in my day we had to double click for a lot of things." "That's great, mum, now get back to deleting brother's porn."

I hope so, but people on this site have already shown the same irrational fear towards the Kindle, so I dunno...

I agree, because we'll know not to do that. We grew up with technology, and the kids just a few years behind us have no earthly idea what the world was like before it. We're too addicted to the next big thing for us to not adapt to it. Back when technology made that big jump with our parents, our parents thought "Psht, whatever, I can do that on my typewriter, and go back to picking vegetables in the garden, blah de blah." Plus, news didn't travel as fast back then, so not as many people even cared about the advances in technology.

Our parents also had new technology, like radio and tv - they had no way of imagining what the world would look like today. Same as we may not be able to imagine what the world will look like 40 years from now. We could wake up one day and discover that everyone has had a computer installed in their eye. Us old timers will claim that we don't need that. We can easily make do with our iPad 14.

It's true. I just think we're better adapting to the newer things that come out because we grew up learning it. I can pick up how to use a new phone in no time, where as I'm still trying to teach my mom how to properly use an iPod. We're just better at it.
