+354 If Harry had been an outstanding wizard right from the start of his first year, the series wouldn't have been as interesting. Instead, he had to work to become the amazing wizard that he was at the end of the series, which makes him seem more like an ordinary person, making him easier to connect to. That is what makes the series so amazing. amirite?

So... The protagonist of a novel starts off weak and gradually works hard to obtain strength? What a unique and novel concept.

I never said it was unique. I just said it made the series good.

Except I can think of almost no popular fantasy stories where the protagonist begins with all their strength. It's not unique, it's practically the standard. It had nothing to do with what made Harry Potter good.

Don't mind me, I just vote down blatantly obvious posts. I don't think there's anything I'm missing that Courage_Wolf hasn't said.

Uh... Doesn't Harry and the crew take on their teacher with Voldemort on his head... in the First year, with no prior training... or any magical connections for that matter

Although Harry turns out to be an amazing wizard, you have to admit that a lot of what he does the first year is a mixture if a whole lot of courage along with a tremendous amount of luck

Colin Creevey?! Is that you?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm not sure you can label that as 'what makes the series so amazing.' There are a lot of things that contribute to the amazingness. And the reason you gave, was kind of a weak one too.
