It really depends. Some people are just lazy or don't care enough to check what they are doing, but a lot of the people who do get scammed are those who have no idea, like old people.

That's true.. I worked at a store that dealt with Western Union (money transfers) and an older lady came in saying she wanted to send some money to Nigeria. I asked her if she had ever met the people she was sending it to and she said, "no, but I got this e-mail telling me if I sent $400 I would get $10,000 back." Or something like that. I kept suggesting to her that it was a scam but she kept insisting. Finally my boss happened to walk by and I let him talk to her.

Why not? It's not like they deserve it. People who make up scams are pretty smart, and if no one had ever told you about online scams you'd probably believe a lot of them too.
