It's sort of annoying when they write 'novel' under the name of a book title; thank you for clarifying, I was going to try and cook it rather than read it, amirite?

Novel is a type of book

It's really unnecessary though. If it's a book of considerable length and going to be in a bookstore right next to a lot of other novels, it's pretty easy to tell it's a novel.

You can usually tell by the book's thickness.

You never know. Some books are probably more enjoyable to eat than to read

Sometimes it's really hard to gather from the title what type of book it is. I've seen historical fiction about Washington, but if it hadn't said "novel" I might have believed it was a biography. Novels have weird names.

You can only see those label if a celebrity is writing it. A person might think it's a memoir or something.
