+250 Dear VEGETARIANS, how many plants had to DIE to make your salad? Sincerely, the honest carnivore. amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Considerably less then had to die to feed the cow that had to die for your burger.

Plants have to die anyway, if we didn't eat them we'd just eat more of what ate them. Sometimes none, in the cases of fruit that grew on a tree for example. The plants are not killed as inhumanely as the animals usually are. You're not a carnivore.

gosh chill out both of you. its a good post! theres a reason it made the home page. so stop hatin.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Which apparently means you're not allowed to disagree with it?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You tell em! I mean if were all vegetarians then animals and poor people would have less to eat. If all we ate was meat we'd have health problems and excess of plants that would lead too many damn animals! A perfect balance is the way to go.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

lolwut If we were all vegetarians, there would actually be less animals. Cows meant for consumption are mass-produced through artificial insemination.

I'm horny.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I thought this said how many planets, and I was wondering how big your salads are. then I reread it. /coolstory

Ahahahahaha, vegetarians.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

A) We would be able to produce a lot more plants if we weren't raising cows or using up so much space on them. B) Most vegetarians won't jump down your throat for eating meat (I could care less)... until you start saying things like this. C) This belongs on DBPB, not on here. D) YOU'RE NOT A CARNIVORE, GODDAMMIT.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The United States government pays farmers to not use all of their land to produce crops so food prices remain stable.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It really bothers me when people who eat meat AND plants call themselves carnivores. You're an omnivore, god dammit.

DBPB

Thanks!!! Have you seen them live? They're awesome!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I have actually, saw them last year.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Awesome!!!!!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Although I do agree with it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm so sick of shit like this. It seems stupid, but years of people saying dumb jokes about vegetarianism or bashing vegetarians really gets on your nerves. Starts to make you feel bad. Let us be.

The statistic is something like over 80% of corn grown in the United States is used to feed livestock worldwide. In some crops, the percentages are even higher than that. If we just ate all of the plants ourselves and ended factory farming, either we would kill a lot less plants, or we could virtually abolish world hunger.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i agree there is no difference between killing plants and killing animals. since plants provide the air we need isnt killing them a little bit worse than killing an animal i mean we need air more than food. just food for thought no pun intended ;)

Read my comment above yours.

EVERYONE JUST SHUT UP IF YOURE GONNA ARGUE. if this post honestly offends you that much then just forget about it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Compassion is not the only reason people are vegetarians. If you realized how energy inefficient the livestock industry is you'd probably become a vegetarian too.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Another plant can grow in its place. :3

Jesus, there's no good reason to bash people for having a different diet. Plants can't feel pain, and when we eat things off trees it's not killing anything since the tree can regrow its crop. Animals are actually intelligent, can feel pain and emotion, and are tortured. I don't feel comfortable eating things so close to being human (pigs are as intelligent as 3 year olds for example.) don't be a dick
