In marching band, there's stereotypes about all the instruments. Flutes are ditzy, clarinets are annoying, saxophones are lazy, the low brass section is really pervy, the trumpets/mellos are obnoxious, and the pit is really weird, amirite?
But I will admit that all the flute players I lead were a bit boy crazy and kind of spacey. I was none of those things because I was too busy checking out the colorgaurd captain and trying to keep the whole band in line.
in my band, everyone's pervy but we're all cool....and us clarinets aren't annoying.....but then again theres only 7 of us so.....yeah. we aren't a big band, only 72 members, but we are pretty much like family:)
Not true. But at my school, that's what the band thinks if the dance team. We have a band of 350 and a dance team of 90. The dance team is amazing, and I'm co-captain.
I loved being in guard all four years of high school. We were totall bad asses and just all around a family. Being captain my senior year was also an added plus to observe our odd but amazing behavior. Also most guard girls tend to date percussionists even though I don't (saxyguard pairing here)
There was one show in which the drumline counted off, then yelled PENIS. It was on the judge's tape.
...I play violin in concert band. Am I the obnoxious hipster?
All of those stereotypes apply to my hs band lol
Haha same here...I love how universal band stereotypes are
As a member of the pit...I'd say this suits us perfectly. We're the only section that would pelvic thrust in the middle of a show.
I AGREE WIFEY! I would also like to add that percussion and brass are the pervy-est sections EVER.
Saxophones are the close third.
WINNING!
At my school everyone in the pit is a stoner.
.....clarinets aren't annoying.
I play the clarinet and even I agree that they are annoying as hell! Maybe cuz there's so many of em...
Yeah, there definitely are quite a few of them.
I'm a boner for life. =D
For life?!?! They say you should get it checked out if it lasts for 4 hours!
They hated every trumpet because our Director made us blast
We're there not very many of you? At my school they're always telling the trumpets to shut up a little.
Haha, shut up a little? I could barely hear myself think after they'd stopped playing. They are LOUD! :)
Bo there were like ten.
Trumpets ftw!
I'm with you down to the pit. Our pit is pretty much the best section musically. And we do more physical training than anyone else... Jussayin :)
It's no doubt that they're incredibly talented. They do amazing things. But they are just some peculiar kids (at my school).
Yeah I buy that.
I am the only trumpet in my new school so I get to be loud. At my old school we were obnoxious as hell and people were always telling us to STFU.
Whaaat? One? Seriously? ONE?
i would yya or nya but im too lazy :P
Not all flute players are ditzy...
But I will admit that all the flute players I lead were a bit boy crazy and kind of spacey. I was none of those things because I was too busy checking out the colorgaurd captain and trying to keep the whole band in line.
I myself can play flute and so can a few of my friends. But if you had to choose one personality trait for the flutes... ditzy would be it.
I'd say more spacey that ditzy. Ditzy makes us sound dumb. But if we're just spacey we could still be kinda smart, we just get easily distracted.
Idk, when I think ditzy I think stupid.
Yeah, you're right, but I can't edit anymore.
For my band the clarinets are the weird ones and the pit all do pot.
The high school across the street makes all of these sound true but the pit isn't really spoken of.
But...but...but...I'm not annoying. :(
Yes you are.
You just completely listed my band, except the clarinets and saxes are the best section musically and are probably the least annoying.

Haha so true. Except our saxophones are more like subtly obnoxious...
And don't forget the drum line clique!
Dance team: hardworking high-kickers with nice legs.
More like slutty dancers with rvealing clothes and nice asses/legs
Not true. But at my school, that's what the band thinks if the dance team. We have a band of 350 and a dance team of 90. The dance team is amazing, and I'm co-captain.
I know I'm just saying that's te stereotype
Then I guess my team breaks stereotypes. :)
And the color guard... Total bad asses. Just sayin.
eh us guardies arent bad a. Were the dramatic ones.
I don't have much marching band experience as I'm a freshman, but there has been at least one guard girl crying every day of band camp.
Your guard members are pansies. One of our girls passed out. But so did a trumpet, a flute, a clarinet, a French horn, and three saxes. All freshmen.
They very much are. No one's passed out yet, but there has been a puker (though he was the trumpet section leader and a senior).
Well I'm guard captain and I hate the younger girls dramatic shit. I just tell them to shut up and spin.
That would be an excellent shirt slogan.
Ooooh it is! I think I know what our guard shirts are saying this year! :D
