My only thought is "DAMNIT I HAVE HAD TO WEAR GLASSES FOR THE PAST SEVEN YEARS BECAUSE MY VISION IS SHIT AND YOU GUYS JUST WANT THE FRAMES? FUCK YOU ALL, ASFEHVJAKFGADFSIGOAC RAGE"
OHMYGOD, THIS! My friends were always taking my glasses and saying "CoOooL," but then they'd put them on and be like, "Shit, I can't see anything!" WELL YEAH YOU DICKS, NOT EVERYONE HAS 20/20 VISION. WAY TO MAKE ME FEEL EVEN MORE LIKE A BLIND BAT. If I could change one physical thing about my body, you can bet it'd be to get a better set of eyes that don't require contacts or super thick glasses!!!!!! so much raaaaage
My friend wears funky frames and I swear to god I'm going to throw them under a bus because she complains about them being uncomfortable. Oh really? TAKE THEM THE HELL OFF. Kjhgfchjkfhb Solution.
It's more of the fact that they think it's cool to "dress nerdy" rather than actually be nerds. I still got picked on for watching scifi shows and writing in Elvish and doing my homework, and doing other "nerdy" things.
I hate the girls that are like OMGG POKEMONN. PIKACHU IS SO CUTEEE <3
But then if it ever comes up and I give some stats or something about another Pokemon I'm "weird."
I also have guy friends who are just as dorky about it as I am but no one thinks twice about that.
I was eating dinner with some friends and we got talking about Pokemon and I think one of my friends rethought his choice of girlfriends because his girlfriend had no idea what we were talking about and I was hammering off stats.
There are all kinds of nerds, and not every nerd needs to be a pop-culture nerd. Being a fan of Star Wars and Star Trek and Pokemon is just one type (and probably the stereotype). If you know a lot about, say, quantum physics but don't like Pokemon, you can still call yourself a nerd.
I think the only qualification should be that one is intelligent and celebrates that intelligence somehow.
There are no specific qualifications to be a nerd... If you love Harry Potter, Doctor Who, learning, and reading then I think that would be enough to be considered a nerd.

That just adds to my list of things I don't like about hipsters.
Please don't turn green :(
I agree with you 1000% percent. I have terrible vision.

Well your friend is a smart guy.
And so was born the next generation of Hollister nerds.
You're a nerdfighter? DFTBA!

A qualifying characteristic of a nerd is attempting to become even nerdier, which you clearly don't posess.
and I'm going to start watching the big bang theory. and read the LOTR books and rewatch the LOTR movies. :3
There's this group of guys who think being in AP classes makes them nerdy, so they bring Yu-Gi-Oh cards to lunch. They don't even know how to play it.
the fact that 200+ people can relate to this post testifies to this trend. Either that or amirite is just awesome... hopefully the latter.
Hard to tell, the intenet is a nerd breeding ground, and sites like amirite even moreso.
