+746 If you can't remember someone's name then, ask them "what was your name again?" Out of instinct, they tell you their first name. Then say "Oh I knew that, I meant your last name!" And boom, you get the full name, and you're not rude. Double score, amirite?

I usually just ask them to spell their name.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well what if there name were to be Jack? Or Rob? Then you would look stupid.

I did that once, her name was Emily. I just paused and was like... Oh thought it might be "ie" not " y."

Unless they're a relative and you have the same last name

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Say you meant there middle name ;)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hopefully you would know your relative's name if they were close enough to have the same last name as you.

What if since they assume that you know their first name they tell you their last name? What should i say then? Cause last time i said, no your first name you dumb bitch. And it didn't work very well...

Me: "so what was your name again?" Indian friend: Patelll. *heavy accent* Me: No you dumb bitch I meant your first name. Indian friend: "Raaaaaj." I highly doubt something like this will happen.
