+199 Dear teacher, most of us write our essays on the computer. I hope you're aware that when you tell us to hand in our rough drafts too, it's just a copy of the final draft written on paper with a couple of spelling mistakes thrown in. amirite?

Yes, and they don't care. For the people that actually did rough drafts (me), writing the actual essay took under an hour. And it was obvious I used a rough draft because my rough draft wasn't even in complete sentences. If you use it, it's of a benefit to you. Otherwise, it serves to minimize plagirism.

My teacher makes us hand write the rough draft, then type/write the final copy.

We just have to show planning, so I usually end up making a mind map or bullet list of some sort.

I submitted a printed essay once and got a 'B', with a lot of comments on what i needed to change. I changed the line spacing by 0.1 and printed another copy, telling my teacher I had made the suggested changes and she gave me an 'A'.

One time I worked on a project with a partner and we each handed in our own copy of the same thing. My partner got 30% higher than me!

Haha that doesn't surprise me. It must be difficult to grade everyone's papers though.
