-168 Before reading this post, you never knew that "Pumped Up Kicks" was a song aboot someone literally shooting popular kids because his life was unfair to him. amirite?

It's actually pretty clear in the lyrics. The first time I heard it I thought, "Wow, this is a bit chipper sounding considering this kid is about to shoot someone."

My thoughts exactly. I was like "Great bass line, gotta learn to play it," then listened to the lyrics. I think the upbeat music makes it a bit darker, honestly.

I personally love it, it's quite dark.

The thing is, I first listened to this song when I found the music video on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDTZ7iX4vTQ&ob=av3e I heard the chorus, and a few lyrics other than that, but nothing aboot the video that I could extract construed any connotation of a shooting. I only realized this when I mentioned the song to a friend, and she made some slight remark aboot this kid shooting people. ... I guess that makes me a sheep. d

Oooh well that makes sense. I first heard it when I was driving home from work so I really listened to it.

I really, really dislike that song. It's on all the time.

How does someone figuratively shoot someone?

By causing a great deal of emotional pain.

I had no idea what he was saying until a couple days ago. I thought he was saying all you other kids with the pumped up kicks get your drunk text in, you'll regret it in the morning...

I really ignored all of the song except for all the other kids with the pumped up kicks better run better run. As far as I was concerned he wasn't saying anything important. Then I was like I wonder what the rest of the song was saying. I looked up the lyrics and got really freaked out.
