+445 If a human being who lived 1000 years ago looked at the food you've eaten today, they probably wouldn't be able to recognize most of it as food, amirite?

If a human who's alive now saw what's ACTUALLY in the food they eat, they probably wouldn't be able to recognize it as food either

I had a sandwhich with baloney and American cheese earlier, then for dinner I had a croissant with pickles and a chicken burger, and then for dessert a Devil Dog... Soo....

If your great grandma wouldn't recognize it, don't eat eat it.

People eat nowadays because things taste good. We have too many options open, and they all completely severed the ties for why people ate in the first place. We need to survive, and early humans didn't give a good god damn what their food looked or tasted like, as long as it sustained them.

The first food I thought about after reading this was Skittles. The way I would describe it to them would be "So they're like little, multi-colored pebbles, and when you eat them, it's like a rainbow in your mouth..."
