+238 Missing a high note on your instrument is kind of embarrassing. Missing a high note while you're singing makes you want to run away and hide in a cave until everyone forgets who you are, amirite?

I can't hit any note correctly to begin with, so it doesn't make much of a difference. (with singing anyway)

Why is it so much worse if you're singing?

You can't blame your instrument because as a singer you are your instrument. You're supposed to have complete control over what happens with your voice. The only time it is not your fault is when you are coughing or congested from sickness. A sore throat won't even cut it a lot of the time.

"You can't blame your instrument because as a singer you are your instrument." "You're supposed to have complete control over what happens with your voice." What does that have to do with it being worse when you sing.

I'm not sure how to explain it better. If you miss a high note when you are singing, it is worse because it is completely your fault, and you were supposed to have complete control. If you miss a note with your instrument, it might have been something wrong with the instrument more than something wrong with you. It might not be the same with everyone, but when I mess up at piano it's not as bad as when I mess up when singing.

This is slightly irrelevant, but I think it's funny when someone's instrument makes a funny sound and they look at it like o.O dafuq?

Yeah, it's funny. I play piano, so I don't see pianists do that. Singers usually make a face, like "Shoot!" But I have seen singers clutch their throat, which is dumb.

I've seen people pull their flute or clarinet away from their face and give it this look like it was their fault.
