Tallahassee was made the capital because at the time, the two biggest cities were Pensacola and Jacksonville. They couldn't decided which one to pick so they put it right in the middle.
I know this because I'm a genius and not because I live in Tallahassee. Which I don't.
Austin is basically a giant suburb with self-congratulatory and self-infatuated morons, annoying undergrads who think they're some sort of god b/c they attend UT(I also went to UT, but it was nothing special), deadbeats who think they're cool, pseudo-hipsters, senior citizens who cannot move beyond their fraternity and sorority days 50 years ago, and a below-mediocre food scene. I'm glad I moved out of that hellhole. I was sick of it.
That said, Houston and Dallas aren't as pretentious or snobby as Austin, and are way more laid back than Austin claims to be. And no, I don't live in Houston or Dallas, nor have I ever. I live out of state now.
Its because Austin was farther west so they placed the Capital out there to get settlers to move west..But remember that was a LONG time ago before texas even looked like it did now.
Why the fuck is the capital of new york albany? Why the fuck is the capital of Florida Tallahassee?

Yeah, and Harrisburg instead of Philadelphia or Pittsburg?
I agree.
Because Stephen Austin was the first to get a charter so that Americans could start immigrating into Texas, which was then owned by Mexico...
At least I'm pretty sure....
You are correct.
Why should it be Dallas or Houston? Is something wrong with Austin?
Back then, they picked capitals that were in the middle of the state( or at least close to it), so that everyone would be the same distance from it.
No, it's because someone with the last name Austin settled Texas.
..what?
A guy named Stephen Austin settled Texas. So the capital is named after him.
Because Austin is cooler than Houston or Dallas. Not that I'm biased or anything
False.

tl;dr
But I still upvoted.
