You always found it pretty stupid that New York City isn't the capital of New York. amirite?

As a New Yorker, I'm gonna say that I'm glad it's not. Every other place in New York would be forgotten even more than they are now, if NYC were the capital.

Most people can't name more than one or two cities in every state except their own. You're from New York ; could you tell me some of the major cities in Oklahoma and Arkansas? Therefore I don't think it would do anyone any serious harm if NYC was the capital of New York.

Ideally a state capital is supposed to care for the whole state, not the largest city. That's why it doesn't matter if I do or do not know a ton of major cities in Oklahoma or Arkansas.

It could perhaps not be beneficial to the whole state if NYC were the capital because then it could be more possible for people with opinions such as "ender"'s who only believe the big guy matters, and the little guys don't at all. Correct me if I misunderstood anyone.

NYC used to be the capital of the U.S, so it definitely seems like it should at least be the capital of NY.

As a New Yorker who just so happens to live near the capital, I must disagree. It's an ideal place for the capital. Also, New York City was more trade-based than anything.

Anyways, it's like that lots of places. L.A. isn't the capital of California, Chicago isn't the capital of Illnois, Vancouver isn't the capitol of British Columbia... list goes on

I don't really understand why people bash Upstate New York. It's not all rural and there are plenty more interesting areas in the state than just New York City. Don't get me wrong, I like taking little day trips to the city, but that's about it. It's too loud for me. I'd rather go up to Old Forge or something for a vacation. The capital is Albany, by the way. Nice area.
